Sunsets & Sunrises

We really enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets. This actually is one of our favorite activities in Cape Town. The surroundings here are beautiful

themselves, but with the golden glow of the rising or setting sun it gets a magical extra touch. Ideal for beautiful Instagram shots, but try to really enjoy the moment! We like to share our favorite places where you can experience this best.

Sunset
Camps Bay

Tip: It can often be very windy in Cape Town and can therefore be a bit chilly. Especially after the sun has set it is very cold. Therefore always take a cardigan or blanket with you.

Lion's Head

  • Perfect for: Both sunrise and sunset.

  • Why here: The panoramic views of Cape Town, the ocean and Table Mountain are breathtaking, especially when the sky turns pink and orange. Also fun to see several people paragliding in the distance.

  • Tip: Bring a flashlight if you are walking up or down in the dark.

Chapman's Peak Drive

  • Perfect for: Sunset.

  • Why here: One of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world (if you ask us) to drive along with your rental car, with countless viewpoints where you can watch the sun slowly sink into the ocean. Half an hour drive from Cape Town. Absolute must-drive!
Note: you have to pay a small entrance fee at a toll booth and the road is sometimes closed in bad weather!

Beta Beach

  • Perfect for: Sunset.

  • Why: This popular gem offers a great spot overlooking the ocean and the Twelve Apostles. You can sit on giant, smooth rocks. You'll see lots of other people enjoying their time with their company.

  • Tip: Bring a blanket to sit on and something to eat (like a takeaway pizza) and drink while you watch the sunset.

Signal Hill

  • Perfect for: Sunset.

  • Why here: Popular with both locals and tourists. Our advice is not to sit down right at the beginning near the Signal Hill Parking. There is a large (ugly) tarpaulin stretched across the hill where everyone sits and it is very busy. Walk a bit further via the Kramat Hike route and find a less busy spot where you can enjoy the sunset in peace.
